To all you Canadians out there, you understand my pain, right? Cheering for our athletes just to see them fall short of a medal and even be eliminated in the first or second round of their sport. It is something I’ve seen time and time again.
After watching them lose several times to other countries like the USA and Australia, I can only come to one conclusion, we need to overhaul our system for supporting athlete. Unlike those in USA, Australia and many other countries in the world, the government of Canada does little to support our athletes.Nations like USA provide… Continue reading

I haven’t gotten quite a category for this, but I might make this into a small series of my own if I have the time. Basically, I will discuss funny headlines that I have come across from time to time. As the first of this series, you get two funny headlines in one.
The first headline reads “12 people injured in wedding in Chechnya when angry guest throws hand grenade.”
I stumbled across this while watching my local TV news channel at around midnight. So why was I laughing at people getting injured? Well the fact that a guest had a hand… Continue reading

The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) is the Greater Toronto Area’s public transit system. It is a disappointing transit system in my eyes and here is a list of reasons why:
- Unreliable service
What I mean about this is that the bus doesn’t come on time. In fact, quite a number of times, I’ve seen several buses in a row come after a 15 minute delay. Not to mention the countless breakdowns of buses and subway cars that I have encountered. No matter how early I seem to leave, the TTC finds a way to make me late. Seriously guys, throw in some

Everyday on TV, internet, and almost everywhere in the world, we see advertisements. However the problem with most of these advertisements is that there are so many of them that seem so similar, that they just become a blur to you. You never notice them. However every once in a couple dozen ads, one comes along that really catches everyone’s eyes. These ads are some of the most creative in the world, and at the TechEBlog, they have decided to make a list of them.

These are real colour photos from the French archives. Back then, colour photography was still in the experimental stages, but from these photos, you can see that they were making some great advances even in wartime!
The photos are stunning and gives you a fresh new look at World War I. See them at World War I photos

When I saw this picture, I couldn’t help saying WOW. That is probably the most coolest and stupidest stunt I saw. Below is a picture of a pilot showing off by doing a close fly-by in his F-14 to an aircraft carrier’s deck. That wings are literally only a few feet from the deck. Any slight miscalculation can mean disaster and instant death for not only the pilot but for the deck crew as well. The pilot got suspended for 30 days for this stunt, but he still thinks it was worth it.
Note: for the sake of it fitting on… Continue reading

Brazilian artist Icaro Doria of age 25 has been working for the magazine Grande Reportagem in Lisbon, Portgual for the last three years. He is the artist behind the “Meet the World” flag campaign. It is quite a stunning work of art. He has taken the flags of various nations, and used them as area graphs to represent issues within that nation. It is hard to describe, you must see it for yourself at

Ever wondered what your ecological footprint was? Well the Earthdaynetwork and Redefining Progress have set up a web site with a quiz to determine your ecological footprint. The quiz doesn’t take long. It takes about 5 minutes.
It is located at Earth Day Footprint Quiz.
My footprint is 4.2 hectares. The average person in Canada’s footprint is 8.8 hectares. Even though my footprint is half of that of the average Canadian, if everyone on the world lived like me, we would still require 2.3 planets to sustain humans.

This article is for my fellow Canadians, well more specifically my fellow Ontarians. So I am sorry for those who feel left out, I’ll write a more internationally focused article next time.

If you are a senior high school student like me (grades 11 or 12) or somebody who wants to go back to school to get another degree or improve upon your current one, and have no clue which university you want to go to, then the Ontario University Fair is for you. It happens yearly in the Fall where 20 of Ontario’s universities travel to Toronto to gather under one roof.
You are able to speak to representatives about different programs at various universities. It is a great place to get started on your search for a university. It is being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in downtown Toronto. Across the road from it, there will be an International University event where you can learn about universities abroad. Even better, the skywalk that connects the convention center to Union Station will be host to an exhibit called Student Life which shows what students can do as an alternative to university.
Just check it out. It starts today, Friday September 29, 2006 and goes on through the weekend until the October 1.
