Want to Learn How to Program for Web sites?
If you are going to build any website, sure you can use some builder like Frontpage or Dreamweaver that writes the HTML code for you while you just have to design the web page with a few clicks of your mouse. But to build a good looking website, you have to get serious and start to get your feet into the code itself.
A program may be able to write the HTML code for you, but since it’s only a program, it will lack the human touch. There might be conflicts, and other inefficient pieces of code.
Of course you can’t just make a good website in just HTML. You have to use CSS to improve it’s look. You can use Flash to make smooth animations. To make websites more interactive, and not just displaying text and images that a user reads, you have to use server-side scripting languages. Some server-side scripting languages are PHP, Perl, ASP. If you are making a website that holds a lot of information (eg. forum, CMS, blog), you are going to need a MySQL database.
So you want to make that amazing website, so where do you go for some tutorials? I made that job slightly easier for you. I found this great site called tizag.com. They have tutorials for PHP, ASP, Perl, MySQL, Flash, Javascript, VBscript, HTML, CSS, Ajax, and SQL. Please note that no matter what tutorial you read on any website, the best they can do is teach you the syntax of a programming language. Even if you take a course, the teacher can only teach you the syntax and give you a hint in the direction you should go. The actual programming comes from practice and thinking logically. No one can teach how to program, that is up to you to learn on your own.
