For you sake, Defragment Your Hard Drive!


Defragmenting a hard drive is the most important computer maintenance tip. Without defragmenting your hard drive, your files are scattered all over the place, so your hard drive has to go all over the place just to put together one file to open. This means slower loading times and an overall sluggish computer.

Myself, I didn’t defragment my hard drive for over a year. Eventually, my computer got so slow that I just decided to defragment it. After my defragment, the entire computer ran at top speed again, and the free space on my C: drive almost doubled!

So to all you folks out there, defragment your hard drive at least once a month. If you download and delete files a lot, then defragment atleast once every 2 weeks.

To get to the Windows Disk Defragmentor, just go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmentor. The above instructions are for Windows XP. Any other Windows operating system, instead of Start > All Programs, just do Start > Programs …
