Microsoft to release portable MP3 Player called Zune

Yes, you read the title right. Microsoft is following Apple’s path in creating a portable MP3 player called the Zune to compete with Apple’s IPod. Not many details were released, however it is speculated that the device will also be capable of playing videos. Unlike IPod and ITunes which are separate services/products that can connect and interface with one another, the Zune player and the services that will also carry its name will be a completely integrated end-to-end solution.

More at Zune:Engadget.

I feel that Microsoft may be wandering too far off from its core strengths, but I do welcome any player Microsoft may attempt to introduce. It would be a welcome change to see the tides turn against Apple and its IPod which has a far TOO LARGe share of the market for its own good. I am always the guy who stuck with the non-mainstream products that were often better than the mainstream ones. But human ignorance however thinks that any other player besides the IPod sucks, even though the player may offer more features and better sound quality (Creative Zen series).

I myself am hoping that this will be the IPod killer I am waiting for.
